US Engineering

Kansas City, MO, USA

Located within a nearly century-old industrial building in Kansas City, Missouri, the renovation of US Engineering’s headquarters transforms the second floor into a modern workplace while honoring the building’s historic character. As a leader in mechanical construction, engineering, and fabrication, US Engineering sought a space that reflects its hands-on approach to innovation and its longstanding connection to the built environment.

Bell | Knott approached the renovation with an emphasis on authenticity, celebrating the building’s original materials and structural systems. Exposed concrete columns, polished concrete floors, and open ceilings with visible mechanical systems establish an industrial aesthetic that reflects the company’s identity. Glass-fronted offices and meeting spaces introduce transparency and natural light, while warm wood finishes, stainless steel accents, and a restrained material palette provide contrast to the rugged historic structure.

The renovated floor accommodates a variety of workplace functions, from open office areas and private meeting rooms to informal collaboration spaces. Custom architectural elements, including a prominent stainless steel feature wall and thoughtfully integrated gathering areas, reinforce US Engineering’s brand and fabrication expertise. The result is a contemporary, functional workplace that bridges the building’s industrial past with the company’s forward-looking vision.
