US Engineering Co. | 3rd Flr Renovations
Kansas City, MO, USA
This was a renovation of an existing 120 year old 3-story building. Originally, the first floor was used as a plumbing fab shop, the second floor as office space and the third floor as equipment storage. The original third floor interior was completely demolished to make way for a new open office concept. A new feature central stairwell will replace the existing freight elevator. The shell of the building was restored to its original state; the large, concrete columns throughout the space are exposed, the exposed structural ceilings reveal a board-formed concrete deck. All office doors have sliding hardware to showcase the importance of systems to move even the simplest of objects. The center staircase will be made of 4x12 dimensional lumber and exposed stainless steel brackets so one can see the inner workings of the structure.
